'Ripper' acquitted for lack of evidence
A jury court in Aveiro, Portugal, acquitted José Guedes of the 2000 murder of a sex worker in Cacia due to insufficient evidence. Guedes, who had confessed to journalist Felícia Cabrita, was also acquitted of arson charges. The prosecution plans to appeal the decision.
