Thugs scare municipal workers away from broken township drains
For three months, raw sewage overflowed in a street in Soweto-on-Sea, Port Elizabeth, because municipal workers feared attacks by robbers and did not fix the drains. The drain has been repaired but residents report persistent smell and health issues. Attacks on sewerage workers began in October 2018
